Career & Youth – School Transition

Arc Glow’s Career and Youth Services help empower people with disabilities to find their place in the workforce. Over the years, our services have evolved and today include a wide range of work and day programs to help your loved ones be independent and productive members of their community.

Our comprehensive vocational rehabilitation and youth services include:

  • Evaluation and career planning for high school students and adults.
  • The opportunity to explore work options and career choices.
  • Supportive job coaching and training.
  • A summer work-study, case management and community-based assessment.

Arc GLOW can play a crucial role in supporting transition from high school in several ways:

  1. Individualized Transition Planning: Works closely with school districts, individuals and families to support individualized transition plans for students with disabilities. These plans outline the steps and services needed to help students transition from school to post-secondary education, employment, or independent living.
  2. Career Assessment and Exploration: Provide career assessments and counseling to eligible students to identify their strengths, interests, and abilities. This information can inform the development of personalized educational and vocational goals for the transition plan.
  3. Work-Based Learning: Connections with local employers and can facilitate work-based learning experiences such as internships, tours and job shadowing. These opportunities can help students gain real-world work experience while still in school.
  4. Job Placement Services: Expertise in job placement and can help connect eligible students to suitable employment opportunities. This can include job matching, resume writing, interview coaching, and job search support.
  5. Skills Training: Provide training in specific job-related skills, vocational training and soft skills like communication and teamwork. This training can help eligible students become more competitive in the job market.
  6. Benefit Counseling: In cases where eligible students encounter barriers related to benefits and employment, Arc GLOW can offer counseling and advocacy.
  7. Collaborative Partnerships: Collaboration between school districts and Arc GLOW is essential. Joint planning and coordination ensure that students receive seamless support as they transition from school to work or further education.

Arc GLOW can be a valuable partner for school districts, individuals and families in helping students with disabilities achieve their educational and employment goals. By working together, we can provide a comprehensive support system that prepares students for successful transitions into adulthood.
