When Miranda first moved to Wyoming County 20 years ago, the Pennysaver was the local source for employment opportunities, and she saw an ad for an opening in Human Resources at the Arc.

“I was employed at the time, but wanted something different, and a career that involved helping others. Everything happens for a reason, and 20 years later, I am happy to say I am still in Human Resources at Arc GLOW.”

Today, Miranda still loves helping employees throughout Arc GLOW.

“My day is always ever changing and never boring,” she said. “There are so many good people that I have worked with and helped throughout my career, and hope to continue to do so until I retire.”

We hope so too, Miranda! Congrats on the 20 years!
Marissa Spencer Longevity

Marissa Spencer

When Marissa applied as a Head Start Teacher 15 years ago, she needed a change from the daycare center where she was working, but still wanted to work with children.

“I’ve always wanted to be a teacher, and I especially enjoy teaching preschool children. I’m very passionate about creating a learning environment where the children in my classroom feel safe, loved, and excited for learning,” Marissa said. “For many of these children, KidStart is their first time being in a school environment, so it’s very important to me that they have a positive experience at school.”

It is her hope by the time they are ready to move on to Kindergarten, they are excited for the next step.

“At KidStart, I am given the opportunity to create the nurturing classroom that I strive for,” she said. “I am also given support from my supervisors and therapists to help each of my students thrive.”

We’re happy you’re here, Marissa! Congrats on the 15 years!
Jill Pegelow longevity

Jill Pegelow

Jill first started her career with the agency when she graduated high school. Her Aunt Carol Fox had recognized her potential and encouraged her to apply to the Arc.

Her first job was an administrative support role at the Arc of Orleans’ main office, then located on Platt Street in Albion. This would expand to include administrative work at the Stork Street residence, where she transitioned into full-time employment.

It was here she discovered her true passion, working directly with individuals. With that, her role naturally grew into direct care.

Over the years, Jill has held many roles, including Direct Support Professional, Assistant Residential Manager, Residential Manager, Job Placement Specialist, Accounting Specialist, director of multiple program areas, Chief Program Officer, and now Vice President of Self Direction and Community Services. She’s grateful to the many supervisors who believed in her, and offered opportunities for growth.

“Without all of them, I would not be where I am today,” she said.

What keeps her at the Arc?

“The individuals,” she said.

Through raising a child, pursuing other opportunities, and putting herself through college, her connection to the agency never wavered. Her most meaningful memories aren’t single moments, but the everyday experiences: helping someone smile, supporting families, and being there for coworkers.

Jill has seen the agency evolve through mergers, new programs, and major system changes. She’s especially proud of helping open residential homes and developing programs like self direction and community services. Her leadership philosophy has remained steady; never ask someone to do a job you wouldn’t do yourself.

Congratulations on the 35 years, Jill!
TERRY KINGDOLLAR

Terry Kingdollar

Terry first became interested in working for Arc GLOW while pursuing her associate’s degree in human services. She received an internship at Arc GLOW’s West Ave. community residence.

“That experience allowed me to gain hands-on knowledge and build meaningful connections with the individuals supported there,” Terry said. “I later completed an additional internship within Community Services, for my bachelor’s degree in social work. This further strengthened my passion for this field. When the Family Support Specialist position became available, I was excited to apply because I had already seen firsthand the impact of the organization and felt confident that it was a place where I could continue to grow and make a difference.”

In looking back on the past five years, Terry said she has found it incredibly rewarding to see individuals build new skills, speak up for themselves, and reach their goals.

“My work provides a strong sense of purpose,” she said. “The variety each day brings keeps it engaging and meaningful. I also value being part of an organization that actively supports community inclusion and self-advocacy.”

Congrats on the five years, Terry!

Stephanie Metz

When Stephanie Metz first walked through the doors of Arc GLOW’s KidStart as a college student, she had no idea she was stepping into the place that would shape her entire career. Back then, she was an education major at SUNY Fredonia, simply looking for a summer job that would give her hands‑on experience. What she found was something much more powerful.

“I started as a teacher’s aide that first summer,” she recalls. “The next year, I came back as a 1:1 aide. During school breaks, I even subbed in the daycare program. Somewhere along the way, I fell in love with the special education component of the program.”

Those early experiences didn’t just influence her, they redirected her path entirely. Stephanie went on to pursue a Master’s degree in special education, a decision she credits to the meaningful work she witnessed at KidStart. It was the beginning of a 25‑year journey defined by compassion, leadership, and unwavering commitment to children and families.

Today, as Vice President of Children’s Services, Stephanie still carries that same sense of purpose.

“What I love most about working at Arc GLOW is the chance to be part of something that truly changes lives,” she says. “At KidStart, we often meet families at important, and sometimes overwhelming, moments. Being able to guide them, and watch their children grow, is truly meaningful to me.”

Colleagues describe her as someone who leads with both heart and clarity —someone who never loses sight of the impact early childhood services can have. Stephanie often talks about the moments that stay with her: a child reaching a milestone, a parent finally feeling reassured, a family finding hope.

“It’s such an important time in a child’s life,” she reflects. “And I love working alongside people who share the same passion and dedication to supporting the individuals and families we serve.”

Twenty‑five years later, Stephanie’s journey is still rooted in the same belief that brought her here as a young aide: that every child deserves the chance to grow, thrive, and be supported by people who believe in them. And for countless families across the region, Stephanie has been one of those people.

Congrats on 25 years, Stephanie!

Tracy Lovewell

Tracy Lovewell began her journey at Arc GLOW as a Direct Support Professional at the Stork Street IRA, where she quickly formed deep, lasting bonds with the individuals she supported. Though her work location has changed, she still sees them from time to time, and what a greeting they have for her! “They still call me ‘Spacey Tracy’ with a smile and a hug every time.”
Over the years, Tracy has grown through multiple roles, always bringing the same joy, energy, and genuine care. From DSP to DSP/Med Liaison, transitioning to a DSP position at Washington Day Hab, then Assistant Habilitation Manager at Academy Street, and now she carries the same title at Washington Street. She has touched countless lives across several programs and says each day continues to teach her something new, “Every day is different, and every day I learn something I didn’t know before.”
One of the things Tracy values most is the people she works alongside. She describes her team as a true source of strength and purpose, “The team I work with, we do everything together. We make each day fulfilling for the individuals, and that means everything to me.”
What keeps her here after two decades?
“Seeing the smiles on the individuals’ faces is so meaningful to me in every way.”

Tracy’s passion, teamwork, and unwavering positivity make her an incredible part of the Arc GLOW family. We are grateful for the joy she brings to staff and individuals alike.

Thank you, Tracy, and congrats on 20 years.
JUSTIN MARTIN

Justin Martin

Five years ago, Justin Martin joined Arc GLOW because, in his words, “I’m really drawn to Arc GLOW’s mission of supporting individuals with developmental disabilities and helping them live more independent, fulfilling lives.” That purpose has guided his work every day.

As a Vocational Evaluator, Justin brings a thoughtful approach that honors each person’s individuality. “What I really enjoy is getting to know each person and helping them realize their abilities,” he says. “It’s incredibly rewarding to see someone gain confidence and start to see real possibilities for themselves.”

For Justin, the work goes far beyond job placement. “It isn’t just about finding a job, it’s about helping people feel proud of what they can do.”

He also values the culture around him. “Everyone genuinely cares, and that supportive, team‑oriented environment makes a big difference.”

Samantha Bauer

Samantha Bauer, Day Habilitation Manager at our 64 Walnut Street, Batavia location, has worked at Arc GLOW for 10 years.

Samantha’s journey with our agency began after the sudden closure of a former employer in 2015. Unsure of what would come next, she applied for a position and quickly realized she had found the right place.

As a teenager, Samantha spent her senior year of high school and part of college working as a nanny for a family with four children including the oldest, a young man with Down Syndrome. Little did she know at the time what a lasting impact this would have and how it would shape her future. “This experience helped me realize I had a passion for supporting people with disabilities.”

In a meaningful coincidence, Samantha’s Arc hire date fell on his birthday. She says, “It always felt like a sign that I was exactly where I was meant to be.”

Over the past decade, Samantha has grown into a compassionate and steady leader. She says what she loves most is simple, “Honestly, I love everything about my job, the people, my coworkers, my supervisors.” She also values the meaningful variety in her work, saying, “I enjoy balancing my daily responsibilities with spending time out in the community alongside the people we support.”

Thank you for your dedication and commitment to Arc GLOW, individuals we serve and their families. Congrats on ten years!

Diane Schuman

Diane Schuman, Speech Language Pathologist, has worked for five years at Arc GLOW’s KidStart.

Diane’s connection to KidStart goes way back — “KidStart is where I started my career after college,” she shared. So, when she saw a summer program opening years later, “I immediately applied.”

After retiring from the Rochester City School District, Diane once again returned to KidStart — and we’re so grateful she did. She told us, “Returning to KidStart for the summer program felt natural and familiar… working at KidStart part time was an easy decision.”

Her passion for supporting children shines through every day. Diane says she loves being in “a setting where people are supportive, collaborative, and truly invested in the kids.”

Thank you, Diane, for your heart, expertise, and the joy you bring to KidStart. Here’s to many more years of helping little learners grow.

Daniel Westfall

For the past decade, Daniel Westfall has logged countless miles in service to others. Each week, his bus run between Genesee and Monroe counties adds up to 1,000 miles. Multiply that by 10 years and that’s some serious mileage! Though we don’t have the exact total, we do know that every mile Dan drives for Arc GLOW is spent supporting people he cares about.

Daniel joined Arc GLOW because he enjoys working with individuals with disabilities, and that purpose continues to drive him today. As Dan puts it, “The people I work for and with brighten my days.” And anyone who knows him will tell you he brightens theirs too.

Happy 10th anniversary, Daniel! Here’s to many more miles and many more smiles.
TRISHA GRILLO LONGEVITY

Trisha Grillo

Trisha Grillo, Occupational Therapist, has given 15 incredible years of dedication, expertise, and heartfelt support for the children and families at Arc GLOW’s KidStart.

Trisha was drawn to KidStart because of the opportunity to work with preschoolers and children receiving early intervention services, the stability of an established agency, and the flexibility that allowed her to balance work and family life.

Over the years, Trisha has become an essential part of our clinical team. She shared, “I am so thankful for all of the support that I get from my colleagues in the clinical department at KidStart! The dedication that each of the clinicians exhibit to the families they serve is admirable.”

She also told us how much she values the collaboration across the program: “They all have a huge wealth of knowledge and expertise in their clinical areas and are of great support to me on a daily basis. I enjoy working with all of the different classroom teams at KidStart and love being of support to them in any way possible.”

As a part time employee, Trisha appreciates the flexibility that helps her maintain a healthy balance between her professional and family responsibilities — and we’re grateful for the passion, kindness, and steady support she brings to KidStart every day.

Thank you, Trisha, for 15 years of commitment, compassion, and exceptional care. Here’s to many more years of making a difference in the lives of little learners

JANICE FALLSJULY

Janice Falls

Happy Work Anniversary to Janice Falls, celebrating five years with Arc GLOW!

As a Self-Direction Assistant (SDA) working in the community, Janice is passionate about helping people pursue lives filled with purpose, choice, and opportunity. After a planned family move brought her to the area, continuing her career in the field was a natural fit.

Janice is a strong believer in the power of Self-Directed Services and the impact they can have on the lives of people with disabilities.
“I wholeheartedly believe that Self-Directed Services are the best way we can support folks with disabilities. It brings me incredible joy to support everyone I work with to pursue and achieve a meaningful life.”

ASHLEE MILLER JULY ()

Ashlee Miller

Ashlee Miller is being recognized for five years of continuous service — even though her KidStart journey actually began way back in 2013.

Ashlee first joined Arc GLOW’s KidStart because she wanted to try something new, fun, and different… and because her mom, a teacher’s assistant at the time, thought she might enjoy it. As Ashlee puts it: “She was wrong. I loved it!!”

Over the years, Ashlee has supported children in many capacities, pouring her heart into every role. After maternity leave, she returned with the same passion she’s always shown. During COVID, she stepped away for a time but soon realized something was missing. In 2021, Ashlee returned to her KidStart family, beginning the five year chapter we celebrate today.

Ashlee says her favorite part of working at Arc GLOW is the connections she’s built with both children and staff. She’s learned so much, even bringing KidStart practices/approaches home to her own kids, and she’s grateful for the “pretty amazing people” she gets to work with.

Thank you, Ashlee, for your dedication, your heart, and the joy you bring to KidStart every day.
MISTY PERHAM JULY

Misty Perham

Congratulations to Misty Perham, Direct Support Professional in Community Pre-Voc, on her 5-year anniversary with Arc GLOW!

Misty joined Arc GLOW when she was ready for a change and remembered how much she had enjoyed working with the organization years earlier as a bus aide. When the opportunity to return presented itself, she decided to take a chance, and says she “couldn’t be happier” with that decision.

Over the past five years, Misty has made a positive impact through her dedication to the people we support. When asked what she enjoys most about her work, Misty shared, “Working with the individuals and watching them grow is definitely the best part of my job.” That commitment to helping others achieve their goals shines through in everything she does.

Congrats on the 5 years, Misty! We wish you many more years of success!

Five years later, she continues to be an important part of the team that helps children and families throughout our community.

One of the things Amber values most about Arc GLOW is the passion and commitment she sees in those around her every day.
