Genesee IGNITE is a partnership with SUNY Genesee Community College (GCC) and Arc GLOW. The program provides supports to adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD).
Inclusive higher education and college experience
- Two-year program located on the SUNY GCC campus
- Students are engaged in:
- Campus activities
- On-campus clubs and organizations
- Auditing classes and vocational experiences through internships on campus and within the Genesee County community
Upon commencement, the Genesee IGNITE Program supports the development of and improvement in:
- Independent living skills to enhance success in community and family living
- Vocational and career exploration skills
- Academic and practical skills with hands on opportunities

While Genesee IGNITE is a university-based program, students will be admitted to the SUNY GCC/Arc GLOW Genesee IGNITE program and not SUNY GCC.
The SUNY GCC Genesee IGNITE Program, in collaboration with the Arc GLOW, will seek to accept four new students each year, who are typically age 18 or older at the start of their program, who are eligible for OPWDD (Office for Persons with Developmental Disabilities) services.
All interested parties must complete the application process. All potential applicants must submit the completed student and parent application.
