Meals on Wheels in Genesee County
About the Program
Home delivered meals are available to Genesee County residents over the age of 60 provided they are:
- Incapacitated due to accident, illness or frailty AND
- Lacking support of family, friends, or neighbors AND
- Unable to prepare meals due to lack or inadequacy of facilities, or an inability to shop, cook, or prepare meals safely or a lack of knowledge or skill.
Individual consideration will be given for certain other circumstances. Services are available based on need without regard to income.
Meals are delivered between the hours of 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. There is no delivery on holidays. Services may be discontinued at any time, or can be interrupted if needed for vacations or hospitalizations.
Our association with Meals on Wheels in Genesee County began in 2012. For eight years, our team of staff members and individuals in the culinary arts training program have provided about 36,000 hot, nutritious meals annually to eligible Genesee County seniors.
The culinary team also caters for several meetings and events each month.

Meals on Wheels in Orleans County
How it Works
Orleans County Meals on Wheels provides a hot, nutritious meal delivered around noon. An extra cold meal is available for supper (to be approved by a case manager), and/or frozen weekly meals.
Prospective participants must meet the following guidelines:
For Home Delivered Meals, 60 years of age or older and the following:
- Homebound, disabled, chronically ill, recently discharged from the hospital, poor eating habits etc.
- Insufficient support system from family and friends.
- Lack of cooking or storing facilities.
NOTE: Eligibility for home-delivery is determined on the basis of an assessment made by a qualified outreach worker who visits the home.
Congregate Dining
- A person must be 60 years of age or older OR the spouse of a participant who is 60 or older.
- Guests (persons under 60) of the participant are welcome and are asked to pay the guest fee for the meal
About the Program
Our main goal is to assist in maintaining the healthy independence of our senior population and improving the quality of life!
The participant may have other needs which our program cannot meet. In such cases an outreach worker may refer the person to the appropriate social service agency and/or healthcare program designed to address these needs.
Our partnership with Orleans County Office for the Aging began in 2009 when we were asked to oversee the Meals on Wheels/Nutri-Fair program.
In 2025, Meals on Wheels in Orleans County served 38,582 meals, and congregate sites served 2,826.
